I don’t need opinions but actual experience from people who had the plan, whose identity was stolen and who used the protection plan and recovery program first-hand. Has anybody tried Identity Theft Shield from PrePaid Legal? If not them, what other identity theft protection program works?

I purchased an engagement ring through the internet. It was in the Fedex box one day on my table and then all of a sudden it wasn’t. I just don’t know whether someone slipped in and took it (the table is close to the front door which sometimes we leave open – doh), or whether someone here just threw the box away without realising that there was something in it (of course everyone in the house swears they didn’t).

My home insurance (same with the retail protection on my credit card) covers theft but it doesn’t make mention of loss. It’s not in the coverage section, but it’s not in the exclusion section either. Can anyone advise me on how to approach this, seeing as I just don’t know whether it was lost or stolen?
Thanks a lot for the answers so far! Do you think I could get a police report at this stage (I only realized it was missing yesterday), or will they just laugh at me?
